Membrane walls

Efficient sealing for dams and landfills

The membrane wall is a vertical sealing element that we mainly use for core seals in dams and for enclosing landfill sites. It has no static effect; however, it can also be used in conjunction with a statically effective support element (e.g. berm, sheet-pile wall, etc.) to enclose excavation pits.

 Implementation

A membrane-wall screed is vibrated and pushed into the ground using a high-frequency vibrator with simultaneous slurry grouting. A continuous sealing wall is created by lining up individual screed sections.

Examinations

  • Project-related suitability tests
  • On-site inspection and acceptance tests
  • Pumping tests

Applications

  • Sealing of dams, backwater areas of power plants
  • Sealing of excavation pits
  • Enclosure of landfills
