“Being awarded another contract as part of the S19 megaproject once again underlines our leading position in road and infrastructure construction. We are proud that the client relies on our expertise and that we are able to contribute our comprehensive know-how to this infrastructure project, which is so essential for Poland," says Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR.
The contract involves the construction of a more than 10km-long section of the dual carriageway. In addition, the consortium will realise the Białystok West junction as well as the associated reconstruction of the S8 along a stretch of around 1.9km. The road junction will connect the S19, which is currently under construction, with the existing S8. Along the route, 13 engineering structures will also be built, including two bridges over the Supraśl and Biała rivers and a railway bridge over the Białystok-Ełk track. Construction work is set to start in the third quarter of 2022. Completion is scheduled for 2024.
Trusted partner for new connection
With two contracts and a total volume of around EUR 200m (PLN 930m), PORR is playing a major role in the construction of the S19 and thus in improving the transport infrastructure on its third largest home market. The S19 expressway will connect the cities of Hrodna, Białystok, Lublin, Rzeszów and Košice. The north-south link between Belarus and Slovakia with a total length of 570km will be an important section of the international “Via Carpathia” motorway network.
