New architectural landmark in the heart of Innsbruck
Situated in the centre of Innsbruck, the P2 will, after its completion in 2018, not only benefit from excellent transport connections and sound infrastructure but also from a clear view of Tyrol’s mountain landscape. The residential tower’s eleven upper floors will mainly house 2-room flats while the multi-storey plinth building will become the location of Innsbruck’s new city library which, besides its main functions, will also include a multi-functional room for events. Furthermore, a public square as well as a café some 10m above street level will be built on the city library’s roof. The three basement floors will house a spacious and bright underground car park with ample space for cars and motorcycles. The structure will likewise offer ample bicycle parking facilities, both on the inside and outside.
And not just the P2’s users will benefit from the new construction’s assets. Its architecturally well-done glass façade will significantly upgrade Innsbruck’s cityscape.
PORR Design & Engineering was commissioned with the P2’s overall design in autumn 2015. This project drew on almost all the competences available at PORR Design & Engineering. After all, the project included a whole range of highly complex tasks:
- Project management and project leadership
- Architecture (draft / optimisation, replacement planning, execution planning)
- Superstructure design (execution statics, form work and reinforcement planning)
- Technical building equipment
- Building physics
- Certification (LEED Gold)
Almost all performance phases around project P2 were implemented by PORR Design & Engineering.
